Drita, My Homegirl by Jenny Lombard 135 p.

When refugee Drita moves from Kosovo, Albania to New York City, she speaks little English and has trouble making friends at school.  Outspoken and popular classmate Maxie, who is African-American, is often in trouble and suffers from her own problems, especially the loss of her mother. When Maxie is assigned to interview Drita for a school project, the two girls overcome their cultural differences and forge a solid friendship.
